Prof. Dr. Homero Fonseca, with more than 42 years
of experience in mycotoxins research and food processing in the Escola Superior de
Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz"/USP, is able to provide scientific and technical
services to producers and food processors, in how to prevent or minimize problems with
mycotoxins' contamination of grains during harvest, post-harvest, transportation and
storage. Designing and application of sampling plans for the analysis of aflatoxins in
peanuts and corn and application of diagnoses of CCPs (Critical Controll Points) in the
field, storehouses and in food plants and subsequent application of Good
Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Good Storage Practices
(GSP) is one of our specialties.
Ad hoc consultant to FOOD
AND AGRICULTURE ORGANIZATION (FAO) and also to the Ministries of Agriculture and of Health
of Brazil, ANVISA, INCQS (FIOCRUZ) e EMBRAPA.
Sampling and subsampling are
responsible for about 90 % of the error when evaluating aflatoxin contamination of grain lots.
